Love Connection

Happy Valentines my stylish followers! I hope your day has been full of love and style.

Valentines Day was always one of my favorites growing up. I just love LOVE and romance, but the anticipation killed me as I knew the sappy "in love" photos were coming and let's be honest, I am more single than I have EVER been and was not quite sure I was ready for full Instagram and Twitter feeds to remind me of my singleness. (if that is a word)

I knew that no matter what I would dress up for the occasion and be a good sport. I chose to wear my eiffel tower skirt because on the day of love might as well represent the City of Love! I paired it with a black cap sleeve tee and a denim studded vest. I added red lipstick (I feel as if it is a necessity EVERY Valentines Day). I also wore a chunky red bracelet that my friend brought home from Africa for me. I was feeling very festive as I attended my 7:30 class this morning. The posts about everyones romance began to explode and I was feeling pretty low.

As I endured the first half to the day prior to a three day weekend, I found myself counting every single minute far too closely. I finished my first block of classes and came home to a special surprise… MY DADDY SENT ME FLOWERS. My favorite flowers have been and always will be red roses and I had them waiting for me. Valentines Day might not as be as great when you are single, but having a stellar Dad does help in the endurance of the singleness. No matter if your single, in a relationship, engaged, or married.. love is love and there is always love to be found!

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day. Let me know how your days went and I hope that all year can be full of love, chocolates, and roses.

Stay adorable my beauties!

Till Next Time!

Mild Midis

Happy Fashion Week my fashionistas! This week I have been avoiding homework like the plague and have been glued to my laptop watching the live stream of fashion week in my not so fashionable dorm room. This week always makes me so homesick for the city. I just cannot wait to call it home someday soon. On the contrary to my homesickness, I am feeling so inspired and I cannot wait for my upcoming post about my Fall 2014 trend report! ITS THE MOST FASHIONABLE TIME OF THE YEAR!

Lately, I have been so into the midi skirt look. They are so old school and I love it! A few weeks ago, I happened to find myself on Urban's website, and found this beauty for only $9! I was SOO excited (it is the little things that mean the most to broke college students) so I immediately bought this and the Bella ring featured in my last blog post. I mean they were practically paying me to shop right?! I can never resist a sale.

I felt like the back of this dress was the perfect mix up. The little peek-a-boo sloped back added such a romantic, while edgy touch. In spite of my doubts, the horizontal stripes were not overwhelming and I adored the way that I looked in this new treasure. This dress is one that you can dress up or play down. My look was so simple and chic. I put little effort into the accessories and it still looked so put together.

This style diary consists of:
Urban Outfitters Striped Midi
Asos tribal earrings
Michael Kors Watch
H&M Cateye Sunnies
MAC Date Night Lipstick
H&M Tribal Headband
American Eagle Silver Sandals

This outfit made me feel so Retro and I loved it. Wearing this to class makes the endless lectures manageable. Seeing that Hawaii is five hours behind New York, the majority of the shows started around 4 AM and I had the hardest time enduring my morning classes knowing that I was missing my favorite designers shows. NewYork Fashion week is by far the best bi-annual week of the year! And the best part is, after NY Fashion Week, the fashion weeks begin all over the world. Its more of a fashion month(s) and I LOVE IT.

This watch carries a special place in my heart during this time of year. Two years ago I was in the city and happened to purchase this watch right after meeting Michael Kors. It was such a wonderful experience and I adore remembering it. I cannot wait till it is my turn to have my show during this fabulous week. I cannot wait to inspire others and be the OFFICIAL trend setter. I hope that some college girl is sitting in her dorm room waiting for MY show to come on just as I was doing for Rebecca Minkoff, Kate Spade, Alexander Wang, Erin Fetherson, Tome, and Tadashi Shoji. (Plus, the millions more of my favorite designers) I just cannot wait to design.

So Fashionistas, take no shame in the lounging this week/month, be updated on the trends and BE INSPIRED. Set your trends, own your style, and by the fabulous fashionista I know that you are!

Till Next Time!

Retro Girl Starts a JamBash!

Hello precious followers! I apologize for the lack of updates lately. This semester has been challenging and quite time consuming, but I am back and come bearing great news. I am hosting an online Jamberry Nails Party on Facebook! If any of you are asking, "What is Jamberry Nails?" prepare yourself because I am about to seriously enlighten you.

WHAT ARE JAMBERRY NAILS?

I knew nothing of this product a few months ago until my sister started being a sales rep for them. She sent me some samples and I instantly loved them. The product is a nail wrap that takes the place of patiently painting each and every nail. All you do is take it out of the package, heat, apply, and file. No drying time! I got a full set of white nails with navy stripes and red anchors. This was totally not something I would pick out on my own, but I LOVED them. It takes me forever to put on nail polish and it always chips off but Jam Nail wraps do not have this problem. You can wear fingernail wraps for two weeks and toe wraps for SIX weeks without chips.

When you are ready to SHOP follow these steps:

1. head over to this web address:http://nenasnails.jamberrynails.net/2. pick out the wraps you can't live without and add em' to your cart (don't forget - if you buy three, you get one free!)
3. at checkout - make sure to pick "Sheyanne Lyn's Online JamBASH"
4. sit back, relax, and wait for them to arrive. you can fill this time by thinking about all the compliments you are about to be showered with.

The party ends on February 18th so hurry and order today. I promise you will not be disappointed. And let's be real, would The Retro Girl ever recommend something if it wasn't completely fabulous?? NO WAY! If you are wanting samples, send an email to sheyannelyn@gmail.com and I will hook you up! Take my advice and order today!

Till next time!
